Dr. Theresa L. Heibel
Owner

Dr. Theresa Heibel, DVM, has worked at Memorial Animal Hospital since 1998, and has been the owner since 2002. Originally from outside Kansas City, she graduated from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. After graduation she went to work for an all dairy/equine practice in upstate New York. There she enjoyed the animals but soon moved on to a small animal practice in southern Ohio. It was in Ohio where she began her love of small animal surgery. After two years, she met Dr. Charles Beutel, and began to practice at what is now Memorial Animal Hospital.

Theresa and her husband, Scott have two children, Jesse and Riley. They feel lucky to own a small farm that allows them to have more pets than most. They currently have two dogs, four cats, two horses, and seven cows. All of the cats and one dog are rescue animals. As a veterinarian, Theresa has a strong interest in surgery, dermatology, and behavioral issues. Everyday she gets to do something different. “I still see things I’ve never seen and continue to learn.” Prior to obtaining her degree she worked as a kennel assistant/ bather and also for United Van Lines packing houses. She spends the majority of her free time with her children, enjoying horseback riding, gardening, sports, and just generally being outside.
Dr. Andrew D. Maglott

Dr. Andrew Maglott grew up in Maryland and first came to Ohio in 1989 to attend undergraduate studies at Bowling Green. He is a 1997 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He has been with Memorial Animal Hospital since 2001. Dr. Maglott resides locally with his wife and two sons. The family has two dogs, Scout and Kenzie and two cats, Hermes and Meow. He loves that each day is different and that he is always learning new things. In his plethora of spare time, he enjoys running, reading, x-country skiing and cooking.


Dr. Nicole Bayless

Dr. Nicole Bayless, a Kent native, graduated from Kent State University in 2009 before relocating to Tennessee. She graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013 and was excited to return home to the community in which she grew up. Her veterinary interests include soft tissue surgery, nutrition and behavior. Dr. Bayless currently lives in Kent with her three rambunctious rescue cats, Lil Moo (the 2 1/2 footed wild child), Yoda (the evil mastermind) and New Kid (the calm pretty boy). In her spare time she enjoys reading, photography and relaxing with her family and friends.
Dr. Paige Meleney

Dr. Paige Meleney has worked at Memorial Animal Hospital since the fall of 2020. Originally from Hudson, Ohio, Dr. Meleney began her career in Columbus, Ohio after graduating from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Meleney is especially interested in veterinary dentistry, behavioral science, and internal medicine, and enjoys the unique problem solving that comes with her career. In her free time, she enjoys singing, playing piano, tending to her houseplants, and spending time with her family. Dr. Meleney and her husband, Eric, currently live in Twinsburg with their two rescue cats, Sirius and Weasley, and their boxer, Bisous.

Practice Manager

Jason Beutel

Jason has been employed in different capacities at Memorial Animal Hospital (formerly known as Banks and Beutel Veterinary Hospital). He first started out as a veterinary assistant and is currently the practice manager. This entails as Dr. Heibel has said “…doing everything I don’t have the time to do or want to do…”. Which in reality means: researching, installing and maintaining veterinary equipment and informational systems; trouble shooting facility issues; business/financial management and protocols, and dealing with day to day problems as they arise. Jason graduated from Kenyon College with a degree in Economics and a minor in Art History and also attended Kent State University’s School of Architecture. He grew up in Rootstown and enjoys spending time with his wife Molly and three children Charlie, Corinne, and Camille. In the fall he has been known to reside in, “his little fantasy football world”. When he has time, he also enjoys playing golf. Nick (aka “The Nickster” or “Nickalicious”), a black Pug from the dog pound is their family friend.
Registered Veterinary Technicians

Kim has been a registered veterinary technician for 20+ years, graduating from Central Carolina Community College in 1995. She spent four years working as a veterinary technician in Fayetteville NC until the family moved back to their Ohio roots after her husband finished his tour with the Air Force. She has been with Memorial Animal Hospital for over 20 years. She lives in Stow with her husband and two sons Allen and Nicholas. They have two dogs; Indi, a boxer mix, and Charlotte a "mini boxer". Kim enjoys spending time with her family and following hers sons athletic activities. Her favorite hobbies are football, hiking, feeding apples to hippos and camping.

Jenn has been with MAH since 2019. With the exception of three years spent in Florida; she has lived somewhere in Ohio. She received a B.S. degree from the School of Business at Miami University in 2009 and certified as a Registered Veterinary Technician in 2015. She truly loves working as an RVT. Assisting in surgery, patient care, and large dogs are her favorite aspects of the job. At home she spends time with her cat Pepper and Larkin her dog. She is a busy woman, taking care of two little ones, Brooklyn and Ryan, spending time with her husband, baking (the MAH staff can attest to her great skill) and enjoys cheering on her hockey team The Red Wings!

Laura received an Associates in Veterinary Technology in 2013. As a registered veterinary technician, she enjoys interacting with patients and making sure clients are as comfortable as possible leaving pets in our care. She is from nearby Deerfield, Ohio. Currently she has a rescued husky/shepherd mix, Harley and a domestic short hair cat, Salvatore. While pet-sitting jobs and a stint at bartending on Halloween are exciting, she likes to spend her time enjoying her pets, crafting, painting, kayaking, and gardening.

Shelby is our newest RVT on staff joining us in 2022. She graduated with an Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology, working her way through college serving and bartending. She likes working here and having new experiences every day. At home she spends time with her two pets an orange tabby named Sophie and her gecko, Smudge. In her free time, she enjoys working out, reading, hiking and spending time with friends and family.
Customer Care Representatives

Jeanee joined our team in August 2004 as an assistant. She now works up front as a receptionist but also assists in other departments when needed such as helping the doctors with appointments as well as assisting in our boarding facility-The Bed and Biscuit. Jeanee enjoys spending her free time with her dog and five cats and keeping her large yard beautifully landscaped.

Erin joined the reception staff at the hospital in April of 2013. She has spent nearly 50 years living in Kent. She has two wonderful dogs Chloe & Cynda. Erin loves animals and enjoys the chance to see different cats and dogs everyday. She loves people and it’s apparent in her interactions with clients. Her favorite activities outside of work are spending time with her granddaughter, family, dogs, and listening to music.

Laura earned an Associate of Applied Science in Recreation and Wildlife Management. She worked in various fields of wildlife management and horticulture before being hired in 2000 at Banks and Beutel Veterinary Hospital. She grew up in NW Ohio. She currently assists the surgical team. She and her husband have Sydney an ever-happy mutt, and 2 cats- both rescues. Favorite activities include gardening, birding, learning about ticks and reading.
Veterinary Assistants

Lindsey grew up in Windham, Ohio where she lived her whole life and now lives with her two dogs-Sam, a shepherd – husky mix, and Luke, a Labrador Retriever. She is the HR Manager and pinch-hits where needed. She enjoys working hands on with animals. Her previous employment included 4 years at a nursing home, and 2 years at another animal hospital. When not at work, Lindsey enjoys spending time with her husband and her son. In her downtime, she like to binge watch different shows on Netflix.

Jodi has worked at Memorial Animal Hospital since 2002. She has assumed extra duties through time and now is our Senior Assistant responsible for managing our inventory and training our incoming assistants on our lab machines. Jodi has two dogs; a standard poodle named Tracker and an Akita named Yeti. A wonderful cat, Meep also has a special place in the household. Best thing about her job is the involvement with the animals and helping to keep them healthy. In her spare time, she is learning to play guitar and enjoys activities with her dogs.

Nikki was born in Littleport England while her dad served in the U.S. Air Force, her family moved to the Kent area just about 14 years ago. She has 2 dogs Temperance and Maxine and 2 cats Mr. T and Morgan. She obtained a certificate in a veterinary assistance program, after being a stay at home mom for several years. She loves interacting with pets and clients alike. When she is not at work she enjoys spending time with her family.

Emily joined our MAH family in 2022. She has a background in human medicine working in home healthcare. She also worked at a daycare and as a nanny. She resides in Portage County and has always lived in Ohio. Currently she has two marvelous cats named Leviosa and Freya. She enjoys the camaraderie between co-workers and playing with excited dogs. While not at work she enjoys reading, watching scary movies, doing anything in nature and telling her cats how cute they are.
The Bed & Biscuit Team

Ashley grew up in Kent. She graduated from Northcoast Medical Training Academy with a certificate in veterinary assisting. She is currently owned by her black lab mix Oscar, and her four cats Juno, Rorschach, Trouble and Zammis. She also shares her life with two birds, a turtle, a uromastyx and an African Sulcata tortoise. Years ago she worked in a privately owned pet shop where her daily routine included caring for a variety of exotic animals that were NOT for sale, but lived at the store. This included two Nigerian dwarf goats, a 16 yr old cockatoo, two full-grown african snakeheads, and a juvenile American alligator which was hand fed. All digits still present! Ashley enjoys hiking and swimming with her dog, eating insanely spicy foods and watching old science fiction movies. She loves working at The Bed and Biscuit simply because of the bonds she forms with the animals and the owners.

Lauren grew up in Kent. She has worked for The Bed and Biscuit since 2017. Lauren is working on a bachelor's in Spanish at Kent State. She has several pets of her own. Three cats, Maddie, Booty and Thomas and also three rats; their names are Penelope, Muffy and Ramona. In her spare time she enjoys thrifting, scrapbooking, journaling, and visiting animal shelters. She enjoys creating a relationship with every pet that comes through our door and making them feel at home.
